Is this car worth anything? Looks like it was never ran on track.

Hi Pontiak, I modified your post so the pictures fit the screen better. As far as it's value? not sure. I'd ask around on Hobby Talk. There are many there that are collectors and might know more about this car.

Pontiak - Super Mods were very pricey at one time, fetching up to $250-$300 loose in mint condition, and up to $500 mint, new in the package. Right now a loose orange one in the same condition as yours could bring $125 - $175 pretty easily, but during the summer months, it becomes a buyer's market. I've gotten a few rare cars, albeit in slightly altered or damaged condition for a mere fraction of market. If this reply has reached you after you sold it, I'd be interested in what you got for it.

Yep, car looks 'original' but one thing doesn't. Front wheels and tires look like the new Tjet fronts. So ya might wanna be sure the body is an 'original' and not a newer one too. Would probably make a difference in the 'collectable price' of the car, but then, since I am a racer and not a collector, I could be wrong. ;) Chassis is definitely original.

According to "The Collector's Quick Reference Series Volume 1" the super mods had Tuff-Ones chassis and were made from 1971-1973. The chassis under this car doesn't look like a TO to me. It would be an easy fix to swap out a TO chassis to to fix this. From the picture, the body and chrome look very nice especially for it's age. I almost wonder if this is one from Dash Motorsports.

Two things - the correct chassis for a Super Modified is a T-Jet chassis using satin-chrome(like on the A/FX pink blistercards)A/FX wheels and "super fat spongies" and Tuff-Ones rear wheels and tires up front. Looked really tough, but unfortunately, the extent of modifications were limited to just that, for looks more than anything else. That's how they came out, just like the Sand Van Dune Buggies. I even saw Good Humor trucks like that when I was a kid. The production was more like 72-73 - that's when all the reissued bodies came out too, to use up excessive old stock of chassis and parts.
This one is surely an original.
