OK...sorry I'm a little 'late' on this...but put me down for an N/FC car. Don't think I can make the test-n-tune, but I will definitely have it there for the race. And..if by some stroke of luck, I do get a Gasser done, when is the latest I can actually enter it? At this point, it doesn't look like it's gonna happen, but if there's anything I have learned from the last two summers, ANYTHING can happen at ANY time! And..if I'm only sending one car, what's the fee? Is it 6 or 7 bux? Ron (Bondo) Lonestar Racing and Resins

Well, Glidden's not running stars 'n' stripes at Indy, but Todd Patterson is racing a Glidden-Allen tribute Mustang in SS/B. He was the No. 1 qualifier in Super Stock at 8.675 -- wow, that's flyin', even for a Ford! And best of all, it actually looks like a real car, not like the jelly beans that are racing in Pro Stock.
I'm gonna have to build one of these -- HO scale, of course.
cool, I haven't read that news yet. I know he is wanting to help out JC with his Mustang. Gotta like a legend like BG sticking with his brand. He looks like he is having the time of his life.
Yeah a Stars and Stripe Mustang would look very good Rick.
Scott, you have a some AW connections right? How about mentioning a Glidden P/S?

I might even get interested in 1:1 Pro Stock again if Glidden qualifies! But he really should be driving a stars 'n' stripes Mustang <g>. That classic paint scheme has gotta be worth a couple of hundredths in Indy.
Re: Glidden to race again? « Result #9 on Sept 4, 2010, 11:42pm »
Wow Guys what a tough Field of Pro Stocks,Bob Glidden in Round 3 Quals went , 6.698 ET and is about 25th..... Thats unbelievable !!!!!! Well he still has two more chances and the way he has been getting faster and faster each round he might be able to barely make the field at 6.62ET is my guess. I was really hoping he would make the show.whats funny I bet a 6.69 ET is the quickest this man has gone in a Pro Stock and isnt even close to making the field Yet. I bet Bob Is like DANG whats it going to take,LOL

CLERMONT, Ind. - INDY - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 56th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Lucas Oil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Bob Glidden Runs 6.782/204.94, Now #1
5:50 p.m.
Lots of things are special about Indy, just one of them being that we have 5 Pro Stock sessions instead of 4. But this one is in a class all by itself just due to the car that's just pulled into the water. Bob Glidden is in Indy, he's racing, and he's in a Ford. I'll wait a moment until the cheering stops.
This is Bob's 324th race and his 26th U.S. Nationals. He hasn't been in NHRA competition since the Pomona Finals in 2003.
OK, so it wasn't a thing of beauty but I'm not sure anybody but BG could have pulled it off anyhow. The car jumped off to the right and was moving hard to the wall. Bob yanked it back right in the middle of some nasty shake. He managed to get the car settled down and runs his career best ET.

Sorry Rick ,I won't be sending my entries to test N tune as T.S.S is trying hard to get there H.O. drag racing program started ,so I will test them there ,before I haul them out to the west coast, they will be there on race day! Dave(hochallanged)Evans

Phil,
No turkey legs at Lions, but be sure to check out the Tofu Burgers and Seaweed Shakes at the concession stand, all washed down with a nice glass of Chardonnay. <g>
Sorry to hear that you won't be racing. It would have been a great gators vs. lions matchup.
Lions Dragstrip... Didn't that used to be an NHRA track? $7.00 entry fee? Wow, what a rip! How much are the hot dogs gonna cost then? And... more importantly to those of us that attend the Gator Nationals... ya gonna have the big turkey legs? California... you serving beer or just that girlie wine?

Seriously though, where can you have fun and race for so little with the guy running the race working so hard for so little. Thanks Rick for supplying the venue.
I'm very frustrated that I'm not going to be able to enter. I had a feeling with the way the summer was going that I wouldn't get anything done and I didn't. The real frustration is not being able to race in a race where Rick won't whip my butt. Ah what the heck, 440 and the others would have anyhow.
Good luck on the race and I will be "in the stands" when I read the results postings.
Re: Entry Fee « Result #25 on Sept 2, 2010, 8:09am »
OK, racers, it's time to load up the transporters and head out to Lions Drag Strip for test 'n' tune for the NTRA Finals. Here's the destination:
Rick Voegelin 2130 Hames Rd. Aptos, CA 95003
Be sure to mark your entry numbers clearly on each car, include your return address, any pre-run instructions, and your entry fee ($7 for three cars, $1 for additional cars, plus any insurance you specify).
We'll run the test session on Saturday, Sept. 11. Our mail delivery is typically around 4 p.m., so we'll run under the lights on Saturday night, when that cool, dense air is rolling in from the Pacific.
Since we're running the Stock class for the first time, double-check the rules and make sure that your entries are legal. Our eagle-eyed tech inspectors will be checking, and violators will be eaten.

Too Cool! They will need some luck making the field but to me would still be worth the price of admission just watching Bob run the 1/4 mile in a Ford P/S. Now if they can pair him up with WJ during qualifying

It would be great to see him race again !! I was a long time fan of his. But at this point , more than likely , well under budgeted. Some may even think wasting his time.
